New City, New Routine
Every August feels like a soft reset. The tail end of summer, the return to routine, the sense that something new is beginning. And this year, I’m leaning all the way into it.
For some, this month means back to school. For others, a new job, a new city, or a return to normal after a summer of travel and sun. For me, it’s all of the above at once. I’m moving somewhere new, starting grad school, and starting a new job. Rather than let it overwhelm me, I’m channeling it into a vision, and a routine that captures exactly where I want this chapter to take me
This season is all about the little things: good coffee, new friends, favorite spots I haven’t found yet, and a routine that actually feels like mine. Getting dressed is part of that too. When everything else is new, a wardrobe you feel good in makes settling in a whole lot easier.
Blank Canvas
If any color captures a new beginning, it’s white. Crisp, clean, and full of possibility, it’s the fashion equivalent of a blank page. And with Labor Day still a few weeks out, I’m taking full advantage of my white bottoms while the “rule” is still on my side. I’m leaning into them all month long, not just because summer isn’t over yet, but because they feel like the perfect uniform for a fresh chapter. Style them with fitted tanks, patterned tees, and flats, and let the simplicity do the talking.
The inspo
I put together a few looks that capture exactly this vibe. Think white bottoms while I still can, a little animal print for personality, mary janes for polish, and brown easing its way in for fall. They move from still-soaking-up-summer to easing-into-the-new-season, all built on elevated basics and colorful accessories you can mix and remix.
Take these as inspiration and make them your own.
That’s the vision I’m manifesting this month, clean, intentional, and ready for whatever this new city, new school, new job, and new routine has in store.

With Love,
SKH
